Beautiful Blue Ridge Sunset Vista…

Last Night Overlooking Blowing Rock & Grandfather Mountain...

The skies are so immeasurably beautiful in winter in the high country.  Last night my son Matt and I were returning from showing a client a tract of land and noticed the gorgeous sunset forming up so we stopped to record this moment.  The beauty of the high country in winter is in large part the sky and clouds.  With a weak slanting sun we often have these layered skies that float in a play with the January light.  It just bathes you in mood – in a good and very exotic way – so unlike the endlessly dreary skies I grew up with in the midwest.  And when the sun breaks through as it inevitably does it’s like biblical scene with beams you can almost touch.  There’s truly magic in the Blue Ridge Mountain air!
