Waterfalls – Gragg Prong in Mid-May

BobdeCamara-GraggProng-1

Matt and I took a nice hike this morning down to Gragg Prong Falls down below the Blue Ridge Parkway below Linville.  It was majestic with the sun rising projecting slanting, golden light on the time-smoothed, granite slabs surrounding this water hole.  There’s nothing like spending a morning in the mountains in May!

Great Home on the New River

I just love this home on the South Fork of the New River in Glendale Springs. What could be more peaceful than sitting by the banks of the Nee River at the onset of spring!

First Snow in Boone of 2014!

FirstSnowofYear-BooneNC-2014-1

It was beautiful seeing the snowflakes once again falling on our winter wonderland! It always stuns me to realize what an enchanting universe we enjoy living up here in the mountains. Invigorating is perhaps the appropriate expression to describe winter’s first snow. Stately hardwood trees, scent of wood in the air and woodsmoke curling up the chimneys, a crisp snap in the air and brilliantly blue skies all tell me that the most beautiful time of year is upon us. Come marvel at the majesty with us – come to the mountains!

Massive Views near Boone!

Our Client Will Wake Up with This View Every Morning!

Our Client Will Wake Up with This View Every Morning!

Here is one of the most sublime and transporting views I’ve sold in fifteen years practicing real estate in Boone! Just seven convenient miles south of town in a Blowing Rock subdivision named Misty Mountain you’ll find these exquisite views of the gorge below town. They say on a clear winter’s night you can see the skyline of downtown Charlotte! Isn’t this a gorgeous vista! I must have done something somewhere right to be asked to assist clients acquire a home with this panorama! I’m thankful for the opportunity to earn my livelihood in such an inspiring environment and grateful to our clients who rely on us to protect them in the process and so enable us to continue our work up here every day! Life in Boone is good!

Sharon’s Daffodils

20140406-100832.jpg
The flowers at Sharon’s farm are emerging in full spring glory. Here’s a wave of daffodils. Last December I planted 1000 more which are just breaking ground. The forsythia are beginning to riot as we’ll. What a bounty this time of year is – especially after the winter we’ve endured. Sharon says to say those daffodils are named “Ice Follies.”

Snowstorm in Boone

image

It looks like this morning we wake up with about 10 inches of snow in Boone.  It’s still coming down but expected to turn to rain shortly and melt it all off.  It sure is pretty though and one more example of the exotic beauty that occurs almost every day in the mountains.  Come visit us and see for yourself.

Mountain Fun in the Snow

Meet Alex the Dog up on the ridge at Sharon’s Farm looking out toward Iron Mountain near Whitetop and Mount Rogers.  We had around nine inches and Alex loved the camouflage!  Winter is beautiful in the mountains.

Frosty Trees in Eagles Nest in Banner Elk Today!

image

It was majestic driving up into Eagles Nest in Banner Elk this morning.  All the trees were glazed with a beautiful rime ice.  It’s such a peculiar and rare event that it almost makes you feel like you’re on a different planet.  The effect is truly mesmerizing.  It seems like every day in the mountains there’s another unique experience to celebrate.

One of the Most Fickle Females in my Life..

image

Her name is Kitty Kane Cat and she has a mind of her own but definitely enjoys human company and affection.  She doesn’t talk which after a day in real estate can be a comfort.  But she lets me know immediately if she’s unhappy.  She is rarely a bad kitty and never catty or contumacious.  With the amount Sharon travels, Kitty Kane is becoming a dominant female figure in my life, as scratchy as that may seem…

Daughter Megan Makes an Appearance

image

Megan drives up from Asheville last night and paid me a surprise visit to our offices today.  Isn’t she a beauty!  Girl got style too – what with her being a designer and all!  It was great to see my daughter today!

Robin Likes the Tub!

This is a picture of Robin trying out the new tub.  There’s more to buying house and simply “kicking tires!”  One of the great things about selling real estate and then is the great people you meet

New River in Winter

image

Here’s the New River on January 29th.  We’re coming out of the cold snap and you can see the ice floes in the stream.  We are listing this beautiful cabin right on the New River in Glendale Springs just east of Jefferson, North Carolina.

Ice Floes in Mountain Creeks

image

Here’s a set of falls below Whitetop Mountain.  It’s one of my favorite sets of rapids and changes dramatically with rainfall or snow runoff.  It’s high today, loud, snowy and beautiful.  It epitomizes peace, tranquility and all the other reasons I moved to the mountains for.  Somehow just standing by them makes me feel more human and I guess that’s why I live here.

Views of Winston-Salem’s Skyline!

image

Here is the infinite view from 4800′ elevation at the home atop Rich Mountain, one off our clients bought today.  as soon as she walked in she knew that this was the home for her and her six grown sons and all the grandchildren.  We take pleasure in helping people find their perfect home and sharing in their happiness.  But I envy their view!!

When Nature’s Pipes Freeze…

image

Here’s a massive ice flow near Boone yesterday.  This time of year they’re ubiquitous.  It’s part of the natural beauty of the mountains and just one more reason why my son, Matt and I live here.  Isn’t it magnificent!
