The Best Steak in the High Country!

Steak is not something I take lightly.  Most of the time I will grill my own to perfection but every now and then it’s time to go out on the town.  Whatever the special occasion may be, it’s time to treat yourself to a juicy cut of beef.  If you go out to one of the fine establishments in Boone, Blowing Rock or Banner Elk, you can expect to pay $25+ for a decent filet, ribeye or NY strip.  My favorite cut has always been the ribeye because of the mouth-watering flavor.  Yes it has more fat compared to a filet but it’s well worth it!  Give the ol’ ribeye a try and I promise you’ll never look back.

So now it’s time to announce the best steak in the high country (including Boone, Blowing Rock & Banner Elk):  The “Black & Bleu” from Bistro Roca.  This is no surprise to anyone who’s ever tasted  this divine cut of meat.  I remember the first time I ordered it back in 2004 when Bistro Roca opened in downtown Blowing Rock.  I was expecting a good steak but what I encountered was the best steak of my life.  The chef has mastered this ensemble.  He creates a base of mashed potatoes followed by the blackened/grilled ribeye with crumbles of bleu cheese & crispy onions scattered on top drizzled with a sauce that will leave a permanent impression on your taste buds.  It’s simply a work of art!
